Pathways to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematical (STEM) Careers
TEP Teacher Roundtable Featuring Panel of STEM Professionals

The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) invites secondary school teachers in the Columbia area to participate in CEE’s Teacher Enrichment Program Teacher Roundtable. TEP Teacher Roundtables serve as a forum for secondary school STEM educators to engage and network with leaders in STEM fields from biology to manufacturing.

The panel of four speakers at this event will include:

  • Dr. Kaye Shaw, Coordinator, Midlands Regional Education Center, Midlands Technical College
  • Dr. MVS Chandrashekhar, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, University of South Carolina
  • Dr. Jane Ellis, President-elect, National Association of Biology Teachers
  • Mr. Lewis F. Gossett, President & CEO, South Carolina Manufacturers’ Alliance.

The panel “Pathways to STEM Careers” will focus on the many different ways students can find fulfilling and meaningful careers in high-need STEM fields. The aim of the Roundtable is to help teachers inspire and motivate students by showing them how many 21st century STEM possibilities are “out there” for them. The speakers will provide information on local STEM career opportunities for students, speakers’ experiences in their fields, and the ways in which teachers can excite students about STEM careers and help guide them as they make plans.

About the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) was founded in 1983 by the late Admiral H.G. Rickover and Joann P. DiGennaro, President of the Center. The Center's mission is to nurture high school and university scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and to encourage collaboration between and among leaders in the global community. CEE sponsors the Research Science Institute (RSI), the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO), and the Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP).  For more information about the Center and its programs, visit CEE’s Web site, www.cee.org
