RSI Community

RSI Students on the Charles River

Extracurricular Activities

RSI recognizes that its participants will be colleagues throughout their careers. It offers participants a variety of activities to foster their social development and develop a strong sense of camaraderie.

Students enjoy a variety of field trips to nearby cultural attractions and expeditions to science and technology facilities in the Boston Area. Past sessions have participated in Boston's July 4th celebration on the Esplanade and enjoyed a weekend trip to discover the natural beauty of New England. Program staff are extremely responsive to student interest, and the activities of each RSI session reflect the unique character of the participants.

An extensive Distinguished Lecture Series brings students in contact with today's leading figures in science, mathematics, business, and the humanities. Past RSI sessions have included presentations by Professor Philip Sharp, Nobel Laureate; David K. Rensin, President and CEO, Reality Mobile, LLC; Professor Wolfgang Ketterle, Nobel Laureate; Dr. Tom Leighton, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist, Akamai Technologies; Dr. John Parmentola, Director for Research and Laboratory Management, U.S. Army; and Dr. John McQuade, Senior Vice President for Science and Technology, UTC Corp.

Alumni Community

RSI alumni maintain a tight-knit community throughout their academic and professional careers. Alumni from all years of the program stay in contact with one another through an active alumni network (www.rsiaa.org), which provides a jobs network, on-line discussion groups, local and national reunions, and special alumni travel opportunities. Alumni also form an integral part of the RSI staff each summer.
