"Given the pandemic and its reverberating impact, there is no more crucial a time to invest in STEM excellence than now to ensure we stand at the ready to be proactive, not reactive, in the future. A thriving, sustainable RSI is a hefty tool with a proven track record of success when it comes to societal biomedical and scientific advancement. RSI was such a transformative experience for me that assuming this role is an absolute privilege. The intergenerational, global nature of CEE’s nurturing of STEM scholars during and beyond the program itself endures lifelong, which is why RSI is second to none,” said Dr. Wells.

Dr. Wells is deeply committed to educating, mentoring and career advising the next generation. As an adjunct professor at Drexel University’s School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, she has helped in spearheading the nation’s first degree program in pediatric engineering. Dr. Wells is an award-winning Board-certified physician with many years of experience caring for patients. She was recently profiled in HealthVenture’s #WomanCrushEntrepreneur campaign highlighting awe-inspiring women leading change in healthcare, as a physician leader by the Women in Medicine Legacy Foundation and was featured in Physician Outlook Magazine’s#stellardoc campaign during National Physicians’ Week. She is Founder & Chair of the Yale Alumni Health Network as well as a member of The Leadership Council of The Wistar Institute, the nation’s first independent biomedical research facility. She has been interviewed on major media outlets as a medical expert.

Under the direction of Dr. Wells, RSI will continue to bring together top U.S. and international high school students for an intensive, six-week summer program that provides students with the opportunity to conduct original, cutting-edge research. RSI is cost-free to all students competitively selected to attend. To date, nearly 3,000 scholars, representing all U.S. states and more than 55 nations, have attended.
