Pathways to Houston STEM Careers
The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) invites secondary school teachers in the Houston area to participate in CEE’s Teacher Enrichment Program Teacher Roundtable. TEP Teacher Roundtables serve as a forum for secondary school STEM educators to engage and network with leaders in STEM fields.
The panel of three speakers at this event will include:
- Vernon Baker, Program Coordinator, Department of Aviation Science and Technology, Texas Southern University
- Emily Ford, Volunteer Programs Coordinator, Galveston Bay Foundation
- Stephen R. Igo, Director, Entrepreneurial Institute, Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center, Senior Associate, Methodist Research Institute
The panel “Pathways to Houston STEM Careers” will focus on the many different ways students can find fulfilling and meaningful careers in high-need STEM fields. The aim of the Roundtable is to help teachers inspire and motivate students by showing them how many 21st century STEM possibilities are “out there” for them. The speakers will provide information on local STEM career opportunities for students, speakers’ experiences in their fields, and the ways in which teachers can excite students about STEM careers and help guide them as they make future plans.
The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE)was founded in 1983 by Joann P. DiGennaro, President of the Center and the late Admiral H.G. Rickover. The Center's mission is to nurture high school and university scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and to encourage collaboration between and among leaders in the global community. CEE sponsors the Research Science Institute (RSI), the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO), and the Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP).
