CEE ANNOUNCES HONORED MEDALIST
Professor William Stuart Honored for Outstanding Leadership and Commitment
to Excellence in Education

McLean, VA – October 22, 2013 –The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is proud to announce that Professor William T. Stuart, Ph.D. will be honored for outstanding leadership and commitment to excellence in education at the Center’s upcoming 30th anniversary celebration in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Stuart joins Mr. Nicholas Gouletas and Ms. Jane Zhang as distinguished honorees.

The anniversary celebration, October 26-27 at the Cambridge Marriott, commemorates CEE’s 30 years of exceptional leadership in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education.  CEE’s programs, the Research Science Institute (RSI), USA Biology Olympiad (USABO), and the Teacher Enrichment Center (TEP), have nurtured young scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science and technology. 

In 1983, Dr. Stuart began his long association with the Center for Excellence in Education when he served as the first director of the Research Science Institute.  Since then he has been an invaluable asset for CEE, serving as Director of the USA Biology Olympiad and as Director of the Research Science Institute in Saudi Arabia.  In addition to his work at the University of Maryland, Dr. Stuart has conducted extensive research in the Middle East, Latin America, Central and Southern Africa, Eastern Europe and Oceania. Dr. Stuart received his doctorate from the University of Oregon in Eugene.  He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, Department of Anthropology.

“Dr. Stuart has been an extraordinary supporter of CEE and STEM education,” said Joann DiGennaro, CEE President.   “His assistance over 30 years has provided invaluable guidance to the success of our STEM programs.”
