Technology in Science and Engineering to Strengthen Science Teaching

Middle and high school STEM teachers are invited to attend this interactive, cost-free workshop with STEM professionals to explore how technology has shaped science and engineering for the 21st Century

McLean, VA – June 20, 2016 – The Center for Excellence in Education, Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, Commonwealth of Virginia, WestRock Foundation, Micron Foundation, Van Metre Companies, and Vulcan Materials will sponsor the Exploring the “T” in STEM: Impacts of Technology on Science and Engineering professional enrichment workshop for middle and high school teachers on Thursday, June 30th, 2016. This cost-free workshop will be held at the Courtyard Tysons Corner, located at 1960 Chain Bridge Road in McLean, VA from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is for STEM teachers who wish to broaden their perspective of science and technology in their classroom.

Presentation topics will focus on Advances in Technology for Biological Research, Technology Impact on Engineering Design, and Cybersecurity, Technology and the Internet of Things. The event will focus on how technology has expanded opportunities for research and development, increased productivity, engineering design, and experimental processes, and how students can best be prepared to tackle the challenges that lie ahead in these fields.
