As the 112th Congress expired, our nation and CEE lost a valiant champion in the United States Senate.  Senator Joseph Lieberman retired after 24 years of faithful service in the world’s greatest deliberative body.

Senator Lieberman has been a tremendous supporter of CEE and graciously served as a CEE Honorary Board Member for 18 years.

As a tribute to Senator Lieberman, CEE will proudly present the “Senator Lieberman Award” each year to an alumnus of the Center’s RSI or USABO programs for outstanding achievement in science and technology.  Additionally, CEE alumni and staff recent gathered in his Hart Senate Office Building to express appreciation and bid him farewell to the U.S. Senate.

In reflecting on CEE’s earlier days at a recent CEE Congressional Luncheon, Senator Lieberman stated, “The Center for Excellence in Education is Admiral Rickover’s legacy.  CEE has good programs and ideas and could not get where it is today without the support of its sponsors.  His legacy will live on thanks to all of you.”

CEE is proud to add our voice to those commending and saluting Senator Lieberman on his faithful and dedicated service.  Wherever future roads might take him, he will always be a strong advocate for STEM education and our nation’s future scientists, mathematicians and engineers.

Thank you Senator Lieberman for the support you have shown CEE.
