CEE to Host Webinar on STEM in Food Science

McLean, Va. (November 3, 2023) – The Center for Excellence in Education’s (CEE) Teacher Enrichment Program presents “What’s in Your Food,” a cost-free online seminar about STEM in food science. It takes place on Thursday, November 16, 2023, 5-6:00 p.m. ET via Zoom. Register online.

Distinguished speaker:

Ice Cream Scientist Dr. Maya Warren received her BA in Chemistry from Carleton College and her PhD in Food Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Her research focused on the microstructure, sensorial, and behavioral properties of frozen aerated desserts. She has gone on to become a leading expert in the ice cream industry and continues to share her depth of knowledge with the world. Dr. Maya appeared on the Emmy Award winning reality television show, The Amazing Race (Season 25).  Traversing the globe with her former lab mate and candy scientist, Dr. Amy DeJong - these two “Sweet Scientists” became the third female-female team to win The Amazing Race! Currently, Dr. Maya owns IC3 CRM CONSULTING LLC - an international consulting company specializing in the art and science of frozen aerated desserts.

CEE’s Teacher Enrichment Program provides unique STEM opportunities for high

school teachers and their students. All TEP resources and professional development events are cost-free to participants. To date, more than 4,000 teachers from over 1,400 schools have participated.
