CEE offers exciting free virtual program for high school students and teachers.

(April 23, 2024) – The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is offering high school students and teachers a cost-free opportunity to learn more about engineering careers on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 5-6 p.m. ET on Zoom. Michael Newman leads the software engineering team at CodeSignal, a San Francisco startup focused on developing and measuring technical skills. With experience as a candidate, interviewer, and hiring manager, he is deeply committed to making learning and interviewing for technical skills less painful. Before joining CodeSignal, he spent his early career in healthcare software. He studied Computer Science at Princeton University and is an alum of Research Science Institute 2008. When not at work, Michael can usually be found spoiling his dog or binge-reading sci fi.
Ben Underwood is Engineering Manager at TMMWV where he oversees Hybrid Transaxle case and housing production as well as 2.4L Turbo and 2.5L Engine Machining (block, cam, crank, head, conrod). He is a lifelong West Virginia Resident and graduated from West Virginia University in 2018 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Ben was hired as a Production Engineer at Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia (TMMWV) in 2020 where he led powertrain projects on the Toyota New Global Architecture Engine Lines. The engines produced on these lines go in the Toyota Rav4, Grand Highlander, Highlander, as well as the Lexus NX and RX.
This online seminar is offered jointly through CEE’s Teacher Enrichment Program and STEM Lyceums, a virtual club for high school students to learn about STEM professions and career pathways.
