McLean, Va. (January 27, 2023) – The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) welcomes two new staff members who will help nurture careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for underrepresented, academically talented high school and college students. Erika Matthews is manager of CEE’s STEM Lyceums program and Adeola Olagoke is Manager of CEE’s Teacher Enrichment Program.

Erika Matthews will conduct STEM Lyceums, which consist of cost-free webinars that connect underserved high school students with an ecosystem of top industry professionals and innovators. She said, “Coming into the role of STEM Lyceums Manager from a traditional educator background, I am thrilled to connect motivated STEM scholars with the resources to achieve their academic potential and celebrate their growth throughout the semester.” Erika earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis.

Adeola Olagoke will provide cost-free STEM opportunities through CEE’s Teacher Enrichment Program for high school teachers to take back to their classrooms. She said, “I look forward to linking STEM educators across the country with professional resources and connections to advance their careers and to directly benefit their students.” To date, more than 4,000 teachers from over 1,400 schools have participated, reaching nearly 600,000 underserved rural and urban students to consider STEM careers. Adeola earned a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Communication from Texas A&M University from Houston, Texas.

“I am so delighted that Erika and Adeola have joined CEE’s staff. I’m confident that they will make a significant contribution to the success of the Center,” said Joann DiGennaro, CEE President.
