New STEM Lyceums Webinar on Careers in Music

CEE offers exciting free virtual STEM Lyceums program for high school students.

McLean, Va. (November 10, 2023) – The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is offering high school students “Science in Music, a cost-free opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers and their relationship with music on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. ET. Distinguished speaker:

Description automatically generatedDr. Mark Temple, a Senior Lecturer in Molecular Biology from the School of Science at Western Sydney University, is renowned for his expertise in chromatin structure, anti-cancer drug interactions with DNA, and his investigations into aging using yeast models. His recent pioneering work in applying audio for biological sequence data analysis has resulted in the development of dnasonification.org, including the groundbreaking sonification of the coronavirus genome. Temple’s innovative fusion of science and art is evident in his successful events, such as This Sounds Like Science and Science Meets Art, highlighting the harmonious blend of scientific exploration with artistic creativity and expression. Dr. Temple earned his PhD from the University of New South Wales.

This online seminar is part of CEE’s STEM Lyceums, a virtual club for high school students to learn about STEM professions and career pathways, provided at no cost to schools or students. Industry professionals share innovative research and offer unique learning experiences, internship opportunities, and scholarship offerings for STEM learners. Meetings foster critical thinking skills, encourage excitement for science, and prepare students to enter STEM careers.
