New STEM Lyceums Webinar on College Applications

CEE offers exciting free virtual STEM Lyceums program for high school students.

McLean, Va. (February 26, 2024) – The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is offering high school students “Insight to College, a cost-free opportunity to learn more about the college applications process on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 5-6 p.m. ET on Zoom. Register here. Distinguished speakers:

Carla Goodwin is Senior Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at George Mason University. She earned a BA in Psychology and African American Studies from Georgetown University and an MA in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from George Mason University. Apart from her work at George Mason, Carla co-produces the Anchor Exchange, PCACAC’s podcast. The show focuses on pushing professionals to challenge their perspectives and become more empathetic to the struggles of students applying to college, while also highlighting the unsung heroes doing the work to alleviate stress and bridge the academic divides. Nothing brings her more joy than playing a role in actualizing a college future for a student at a place that not only advances them academically and professionally, but also makes them happy in the process.

Wenbo Wu is a prospective biology & chemistry and mathematics major in the MIT/Harvard PhD/MD program and an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In addition to research, he is an active member of various school publications, engages with medicine-related clubs, and advocates for mental health resources on campus. In his spare time, he writes spontaneous poetry, compiles playlists for his radio show, and jogs. Wenbo is an alumnus of CEE’s 2017 and 2018 USA Biolympiad (USABO). In 2019 he was named a Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar.

 

This online seminar is part of CEE’s STEM Lyceums, a virtual club for high school students to learn about STEM professions and career pathways, provided at no cost to schools or students. Industry professionals share innovative research and offer unique learning experiences, internship opportunities, and scholarship offerings for STEM learners. Meetings foster critical thinking skills, encourage excitement for science, and prepare students to enter STEM careers.
