McLean, VA (June 29, 2021) – The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is pleased to announce that Sundaram Biswas, a graduate of Holy Heart of Mary High School, St. John's, New Foundland, Canada, who attended CEE’s Research Science Institute (RSI) in 2020, has been awarded a Schulich Leader Scholarship, a premiere STEM scholarship in Canada and the global community.

“I am proud of Sundaram,” said Joann P. DiGennaro, CEE President. “He is a worthy young scholar of this prestigious award.”

“Thank you so much for the opportunity to attend RSI in 2020,” Sundaram Biswas noted. “The experience inspired me to work harder, and it resulted in me winning the Schulich Leader Scholarship in the engineering category which gives the top 50 students in Canada enrolling in engineering a $100,000 scholarship.” He plans to attend Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Launched in 2012, the Schulich Leader Scholarship provides undergraduate scholarships each year across top Canadian universities. The most promising students can pursue their dreams and become the next global pioneers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). A similar program is conducted in Israel, where additional scholarships are awarded annually.

About Research Science Institute

For the past 37 years, CEE’s Research Science Institute, collaboratively sponsored with MIT, has provided students with the opportunity to conduct original, cutting-edge research in state-of-the-art university laboratories, hospitals, and corporate research facilities. The heart of RSI is the five-week research internship where students conduct individual projects under the tutelage of mentors who are scientists and researchers.
