The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is delighted to announce two Zoom sessions offering information on the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).  Fast-moving developments in AI/ML and their impact on nearly all aspects of modern life and society have led CEE to contribute to filling the need for publicly accessible and highly knowledgeable resources on the topic.  Through our network of research scientists and a team of world-class presenters, CEE will offer its upcoming AI Series to articulate recent advances in AI/ML to non-experts while also meaningfully addressing core challenges for experienced computer scientists, software engineers, technologists, entrepreneurs, investors, business executives, public policymakers, and ethicists.

Join us on June 14th from 6 – 7 pm, ET,  for CEE's "The Square Root of STEM". This webinar will explore a variety of topics that illustrate the interdisciplinary nature of STEM and the real-world applications of STEM skills. Educators, guidance counselors, students and community members are welcome to join us on an exploration of how STEM topics and skills intersect with our modern lives. The Topic is Computer Science and Robotics - Building Robots

Join us on May 25th from 1 - 2:30pm, ET, to learn from industry professionals and/or representatives from institutes of higher education share information and insights into STEM careers and educational pathways in the broader manufacturing field to participants residing in West Virginia communities. TEP's industry partners highlight in-demand careers, skillsets they look for in employees, and educational supports provided by their company. Higher education partners share STEM learning opportunities available at their institution, information about financial aid and admissions, matriculation agreements with universities, etc. for high school students. Teachers can live broadcast this event directly to your classroom or can access the recording later to share with your students.

In partnership with the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, the Health Science Highway series brings together health science professionals with high school STEM teachers. There are health workforce shortages across Virginia and the country that lead to barriers to accessing care, health disparities between populations, and worse health outcomes. Join to learn more about the science that informs in-demand health science careers in radiology.

There are a number of in-demand STEM jobs in a variety of industries and fields with education requirements ranging from a certificate to an advanced degree. The purpose of the college and career panel is to explore how middle and high school students can find their place in the manufacturing industry after high school graduation. Speakers will be from a variety of manufacturing facilities and academic institutions. Teachers can live broadcast this event directly to your classroom or can access the recording later to share with your students.

Celebrate DNA with CEE & Illumina!  The Center for Excellence in Education and Illumina presents a look into how our personal rhythm, the circadian rhythm, is regulated. During this event we will hear from an expert studying the circadian rhythm and how dysregulation impacts human health. We will also learn cutting edge lab techniques used to study genomics and genomic regulation.

Our future is incredibly bright because of the advances made in the world of genomics. CEE, in partnership with Illumina Corporate Foundation, celebrated World DNA Day with, “Unraveling DNA: The World of Genomics,” a 90-minute webinar on Zoom featuring a panel of experts. Participants were guided through the history and evolution of sequencing technology.
